About me
Hi everyone,
My name is Gabriele Slekyte but friends can call me - GABO. I got this nickname from my grandma and also it is easier to remember that way.
I grew up in Lithuania and decided to take my further education in university by studying in United Kingdom.

When creating jewellery pieces I always start with either theme, question, issue that would be important for me personally.
​
The aesthetic of abstraction became really important part when translating my thoughts and ideas, also it allows me and the viewer to share the experience by connecting and freeing our imagination.

Artist Statment
My current work has started from the interest about people’s personal traits and what makes them so unique. In order to understand this clearer I decided to pick 5 different people and investigate them by asking certain questions, studying their response to some visual material and involving them in the project by allowing them to freely use drawings as an expression that would help me to understand people’s characters.
The use of materials is very essential part in the process. I tend to work with various components when analyzing and exploring the subject by evaluating and connecting the qualities that process provides. When working with individual’s characteristics and aesthetic materials were selected carefully so it would connect personally.
